Inverted Communication

Typically when we are studying communication it is focused on how to make you, the leader, a better communicator. Our society over indexes on this type of communication.

Yet, communication is a two way street. Focusing on delivery is to focus on only half of this important leadership tool. The equally important part of communication is to be a good listener.

I discuss one on one listening skills in this post. However, the listening I am talking about in this post is when you are communicating to your group or team from the front, to pause and listen, really listen, to what people think about what you just said. Engage them, ask questions, call on people to speak up and let them really engage with what you are saying.

Some times the best communication is when you give someone room to engage with what you said and they say it better than you ever could.

After you are done listening share this everywhere and sign up to get one short post a week to help you take your leadership to the next level.
